Off-roading is one of the primary reasons people buy pickup trucks. However, none of us can deny that we use our trucks more on the road than off-road. This clash between usage and buying intent is what makes most pickup purchases sour down the road.
Understanding the cruciality of the situation, Ford is finally out with the 2025 Maverick Lobo, focusing on its on-road performance. The new Maverick lineup now comes with many improvements that enhance its overall appeal, along with several notable upgrades and features.
Top Changes and Upgrades
For starters, you now get an all-wheel-drive version of the Ford Maverick Hybrid. Efficiency and practicality for everyday driving are two of the top reasons that this model has become people’s favorite.
The automaker has boosted the on-road performance of the Maverick Lobo by embedding on-road tuned suspension with tuned stocks and lowering the overall height of the ride.
The upcoming 2025 Lobo is 1/2-inch lower in front, 1.2 inches lower in rear, and 0.8 inches lower in roof height compared to the traditional Maverick dimensions.
The larger radiator and fan that came with Maverick’s 4K towing package are now integrated into the Lobo trim, along with a transmission oil cooler. This not only enhances the overall cooling system but also delivers better handling performance while driving.
Not only this, Lobo also gets bigger and enhanced brakes that integrate the dual-piston front brake calipers of the Ford Focus ST, a Ford model that was sold in Europe.
Pricing and Availability
The orders for the new 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo started on August 1, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2025. The availability of a high-configuration Lobo model is also on the cards in 2025.
As per speculation, the standard 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is priced at $35,000, with its high-configuration model costing around $40,495.
The New Lobo Mode Is Inspired By Autocross and Drifting
The Lobo is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 238 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 275 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. It is quite a bump from the 191 hp of the older Maverick models.
Sure, it is nothing compared to Ford’s popular off-road F-150 Raptor R, but considering Lobo’s primary usage is on-road, we are thrilled with this power boost.
The performance-tuned steering of the 2025 Maverick Lobo makes you feel like you are driving a performance car. There is a “Lobo Drive Mode” that improves the cornering performance, grip, and stability of the ride to help minimize the understeer.
This new Lobo mode is inspired by autocross and drifting. As soon as you choose this mode, it activates the torque vectoring of the vehicle through a twin-clutch rear drive unit.
One important thing that every 2025 Lobo buyer should know is that this torque vectoring in the Lobo mode decreases the capability of the truck’s stability control system, stating that this mode is only to be used on closed courses.
2025 Maverick Lobo Is All About Street
Ford has not left even a single stone unturned to ensure the new Lobo is street-ready. In addition to tuning it for on-road performance, the automaker has given it a street design to match the overall aesthetics.
Ford has stated that the overall look for the 2025 Maverick is inspired by lowered truck designs of pickups that were highly popular from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s.
The exterior design of Lobo is unique compared to other Maverick trims. It has different front fascia, a painted rear bumper, and rocker molding that perfectly contrasts with the vehicle’s black-painted roof and 19″ black wheels.
The interior of this pickup is just as street-inspired. You can see the influence through the overprints on the seats. The seats also feature Lobo name and Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching decorated into all the seats.
The standard Lobo configuration is limited to these street-inspired details, whereas you get additional features like heated seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as spray-in bed liners, a moonroof, a 360-degree camera, and Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technology as standard on the higher configuration.
In addition, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist will be available as optional features in the higher Lobo configuration.
